QATAR 2022
Revealed this week is the latest project by a woman whose style we are all becoming pretty familiar with. The lady I'm talking about is of course Zaha Hadid.
While browsing through Dezeen, this article came up showing Hadids proposal for the 2022 football World Cup in Qatar with her somewhat flamboyant style. Hadid has previously worked on projects including the 2012 Aquatic centre, the Heydar Aliyev Centre and most recently the controversial Tokyo 2020 Olympic stadium design.
I remember watching a programme about Hadid and her childhood where growing up in Iraq, she used to design the rooms of her family home and people used to want rooms just like theirs. This was the first step on becoming the well renowned architect she is now. While studying, her designs were radical, eccentric and practically impossible. She said the technology just wasn't there at the time to make her visions reality. With such advances in technology in the last 10 to 20 years, Zaha is now becoming one of the most sought after architects of our time.
