Business Cards

 BUSINESS CARDS

My first brief back from the summer break was to create my own business card in 2 weeks. Involved in this was to create an identity for myself and so I created a logo featuring my initials. My task was to create an identity which presented me to feature parts of architecture and design.

The first design I made on photoshop is based on the idea of vanishing points and perspective.

I wasn't sure on this concept. It's very plain and doesn't capture enough attention to itself. I find it boring really so of course I won't use this as my final design.

With a change of plan I used the same design but messed around with different brush strokes in photoshop. This is my preferred outcome but still I don't feel it represents me.

I'm going to change my design completely now to one that has developed from a previous idea I had early on in my project. This again features my initials but is more shape oriented.

This is what I came up with. Each angle of the letter C is 90 degrees which gives it a geometric look. The M reflects off the C holding the same shape making the overall logo look as if there are two puzzle pieces joining together.

I prefer this much more than my previous design and I will use this on my business cards and other future projects I have that require my own identity.

To apply this to a card design now will be the harder part as the design has to be striking and eye catching to make people to actually want to pick up the card.

My first attempt uses a solid orange colour with red offsets from each letter.
As simple is seen as best, I can't help but feel this is too basic.

These two I have continued using block colours but with an abstract image replacing the jet black of my initials. This gives the look of layers.

I have just reversed the other two cards to produce these where the image beneath now fills the majority of the card and the logo sits in the middle in just one colour matching some outer parts of the design.

I'm undecided on which of these designs to use. I could even produce a set of both to give the idea of variety. I think the design still needs some tweaking before I print these for an end of year show to showcase my work.

This is the back design of my card. I created little icons to identify each type of contact to myself. Since the front of my design is quite striking, I wanted the back to be a complete contrast by being simple and uncluttered.
